Sweden’s women’s futsal team has qualified for the UEFA Women’s Futsal EURO for the first time. Two of our players, Ebba Larsson and Isabel Maria Aguilar, played in all three games of the elite round in Humenné, Slovakia, from 7 to 10 October.
Sweden beat Slovakia 7-1, lost to group winners Hungary and then beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-1 on the final day. A couple of hours later, results in the other groups confirmed Sweden as one of the two best runners-up. It is Sweden’s first ever UEFA futsal final tournament, and it will be played in Osijek, Croatia, from 14 to 21 March 2027.
On 23 September, between the national team’s two preparation camps, we asked Ebba and Isa what the call-up meant to them and what they would bring back to Malmö Futsal Club.
Before the qualifiers
How did you feel when you found out you had been selected for the Swedish national team?
Ebba: It felt really fun to be called to the training camp, and fantastic to once again have the chance to participate.
Isa: As always, it is a great honour to represent Sweden, and I was very happy and proud.
What has this experience with the national team meant to you?
Ebba: The training with the national team has given me increased knowledge about futsal and how to play tactically and act in the different situations that arise on the pitch. I had high motivation for the upcoming season when I went to the training, but my motivation is even higher now.
Isa: To train and play with some of the best players in Sweden is a good challenge. I have learnt a lot playing at an international level.
What will you bring back from this experience to Malmö Futsal Club?
Ebba: Motivation, and that it will be very exciting to start a new season together in Malmö Futsal Club. It’s great that we are back in the top league again.
Isa: I will try to share my knowledge and experience with the players on the team, while I also try to give all that I can on the pitch.
The season starts on 31 October
